Gamo Morinari (蒲生 守成; died 1582), also known as The Sword Hunter, was a Japanese daikan who presided over Nomura Village, Ōmi. A member of the Gamo clan, he was the cousin of Gamo Yoshimitsu, who served as a bodyguard to Akechi Kagemitsu.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Gamo Morinari worked as daikan of Nomura Village. However, he grew to be brutal and paranoid of his subjects, thus he confiscated all weaponry from their homes to impede any opposition. He, along with other daikans, later allied with the Shinbakufu to financially aid them in exchange for protection.[1]

In 1582, Lady Oichi's bodyguard Kuma met with the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke to discuss hunting down a group of corrupt daikans. They agreed to help and began to track down the corrupt daikans. Arriving at Nomura, they heard Morinari taunting his servants while he ate in front of them. Confronting him, Naoe and Yasuke assassinated Morinari, ending his rule over the village, and acquired the katana Widower's Solace from his personal effects.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Out of all the daikans in Assassin's Creed: Shadows, Morinari and Endo Riku are the only ones to wear armor.
