Shishi-o (died 1582), also known as The Interrogator, was a Japanese bounty hunter who worked for a group that served Wada Koretake. After Koretake's death, he and his fellow bounty hunters moved to Kii to continue their criminal activities.

Biography[edit | edit source]

By 1582, Shishi-o and his fellow bounty hunters worked with the Shinbakufu member Wada Koretake.[1] After Koretake was killed at the hands of Kyonyo and the kunoichi Fujibayashi Naoe,[2] Shishi-o and his fellow cohorts traveled to Kii to continue their criminal misdeeds. However, when Kyonyo arrived with the remnants of the Ikkō-ikki in Kii, the bounty hunters used this opportunity for revenge for Koretake.[1]

Shishi-o traversed through the eastern side of Kii and forcibly interviewed the locals about Kyonyo's location. However, his presences was noticed by Kyonyo's father Kennyo, who met with the Kakushiba ikki members Naoe and Yasuke to safeguard his son. He informed him of Shishi-o's last location to be near the southern part of the Kumano Sanzan.[1]

Naoe and Yasuke managed to find him in the woods of Kumano Nachi Taisha, whilst he was interrogating a terrified group of three locals about Kyonyo's whereabouts. They then confronted Shishi-o and effectively killed him. They then acquired a note of training advice from Tsuchi-Gumo and the tantō Traitor's Bargain from Shishi-o's personal effects.[1]
