Fubuki
Fubuki (died 1570s) was a Japanese Assassin of the Kakushiba ikki during the late Sengoku period.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Life as an Assassin[edit | edit source]
At some point, Fubuki was inducted into the Kakushiba ikki and given the assignment to oversee the people of Tamba.[1] In Ikuno, she strove to empower the people to fight back against the Akechi oppressors and, in one notable instance, managed to save a young orphan boy named Yagoro.[2]
Although she wanted to aid the people of Tamba more directly, Fubuki decided against going public out of fear that this would endanger them, and continued to hide herself for the sake of those she protected.[3] However, one day, while fighting against several Akechi soldiers, she grew tired from the onslaught and was struck down by their leader, Akechi Mitsuhisa.[2]
Legacy[edit | edit source]
Following Fubuki's death, Yagoro, inspired by her actions, vowed to train like her and even created his own Hidden Blade. Training for years, Yagoro eventually ventured to Harima to end a local samurai's abuse over the region. In the process, he met the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, who aided him in accomplishing his mission and welcomed him into their league.[1] During an assault on Fukuchiyama Castle, the trio eliminated Akechi Mitsuhisa, ending his corrupt rule over Ikuno and avenging Fubuki's death.[2]
Afterwards, Yagoro and Naoe ventured into the Chasuriyama Kofun, which held a secret Assassin outpost. There, Naoe found a page of Fubuki's journal and a box containing an authentic Hidden Blade. Upon Yagoro's insistence, Naoe held an impromptu ceremony to formally induct him into the Kakushiba ikki. She also offered him the Hidden Blade, but Yagoro decided to keep his own blade and put the other one on display at the league's hideout.[3]
