Shimazu Masujiro (died 1585) was a Japanese samurai of the Shimazu clan, and a captain who served under Imagawa Tomeji, the enforcer of the Japanese Templar Kimura Yukari, in Awaji during the late Sengoku period.
Biography[edit | edit source]
A member of the Shimazu clan, which had been affiliated with the Templars for decades,[1] Masujiro departed the clan's domain in Kyushu[2] and traveled to Awaji, where he became a student of the bō master Meiran. After being disgraced, he put his skill with the bō to use, becoming one of Tomeji's captains and enforcing the Templars' rule over the island. Although he garnered a reputation as a man of honor and loyalty, he secretly had an affair with his best friend's wife.[3]
In 1585, the Master Assassin Fujibayashi Tsuyu spoke with her daughter Naoe and Yasuke and informed them about Masujiro. The two Kakushiba ikki members subsequently located him whilst on his patrol, eliminated him, and retrieved the bō Meiran's Legacy from his personal effects.[3]
