Yamane Ichi (died 1585) was a Japanese spy who served under Yasuhira, the spymaster of the Japanese Templar Kimura Yukari, in Awaji during the late Sengoku period.
Biography[edit | edit source]
By 1585, Ichi served as a spy for Yasuhira, one of Kimura Yukari's three taishō (大将, lit. "general"). Secretly in love with her master, she was devastated by his death and swore to avenge him.[1] Following Yukari's downfall,[2] Ichi came to suspect fellow spies Kobayakawa Heitaro and Ryuzoji Den of being the traitors responsible for Yasuhira's death, and wrote a note detailing So Sachihiko's location at the Yuraminato Shrine.[1]
After agreeing to assist Hattori Hanzō's ally Konatsu in eliminating the remaining Sanzoku Ippa operatives, Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke investigated Fukura Village and found Ichi near a hut. They promptly assassinated her and acquired her note and a spare bō, The Old Painless One, from her personal effects.[1]
