Shin-no-suke (died 1582), also known as The Scout, was a Japanese skirmisher who served under former Bessho clan Commander Genzaburo.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1582, after learning of Bessho Harumasa's downfall and Koshiro's involvement in it,[1] Genzaburo sent Shin-no-suke and his fellow officers to kill him at Kyokaiji Temple. Although they failed in their task, they managed to escape and split up, awaiting their next orders. However, the attack drew the attention of the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, who met with Koshiro and promised to deal with his attackers.[2]

Following Koshiro's lead, Naoe headed to northern Maruyama Shitsugen and found Shin-no-suke playing his flute while surrounded by corpses. Upon confronting him, Shin-no-suke engaged Naoe in a duel, during which he taunted her over Koshiro's cowardice. Eventually, Shin-no-suke was slain by Naoe, who then recovered both a bow, the Vigilant Grasp, and an order to deal with Shishimaru at Engyoji from his personal effects.[2]
