Masatoshi Nakahara (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and general who served under Oda Nobunaga.
Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1582, Masatoshi Nakahara served under Oda Nobunaga as one of his generals. One of his duties was to inspect the heads of slain enemies, however he was bribed by rival clans to avoid payments. After the Honnō-ji incident, he left placement with the Oda clan and found a new position under the Akechi clan in Tamba.[1]
Hori Hidemasa, retainer to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, spoke with Kakushiba ikki member and former Nobunaga retainer Yasuke about locating these traitors. Yasuke, along with fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, agreed to help and hunt down these betrayers. Following his lead, they tracked down Nakahara at Kameyama Castle where he was showcasing heads of fallen enemies. Confronting him, they promptly assassinated Nakahara and retrieved a katana Warrior's Garden from his personal effects.[1]
