Ikuno (福知山城) was a town situated in The Silver Lands in Tamba, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe arrived in the town and found her ally Yagoro, who met with her. Telling Naoe that this was his home, Yagoro also detailed how former Kakushiba ikki member Fubuki inspired the people to fight against the Akechi oppressors. However, he recounted the day where she was overwhelmed by the soldiers and struck down by Akechi Mitsuhisa. Compelled, Yagoro and Naoe agreed to confront and assassinate Mitsuhisa for his actions at Fukuchiyama Castle.[1]
After completing their mission with Mitsuhisa's death, Yagoro and Naoe reconvened at Ikuno where he introduced her to his community. During the introduction, they were met by a young boy Torabo, who told Yagoro that his friend Haru had a contest to find a treasure in the bandit-controlled mines. Telling Torabo to have no more contests, Yagoro and Naoe went towards the mines to find Haru.[2] At some point, Naoe and fellow Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke established a kakurega in the town.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
As of 2005, Ikuno was merged with other towns to create the city Asago and no longer exists as a town.[4]
