Okudaira Toshizo (奥平 利三; died 1582), also known as The Hedonist, was a Japanese daikan who governed over Ōmizo, Ōmi.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Okudaira Toshizo held the position of the daikan of his territory in Ōmizo. Yet, Toshizo abused his power by forcibly taking more than the necessary amount of resources from his people, mainly farmers, neglecting their public concerns and focusing on paying for his own indulgences. He, along with other daikans, later allied with the Shinbakufu to financially aid their plans in exchange for protection.[1]

In 1582, Lady Oichi's bodyguard Kuma talked with the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke about dealing with a group of corrupt daikans. They agreed and went to track down these officials. Traveling to the Outer Farmlands in Ōmizo, they heard a party at his estate and later saw Toshizo being caressed by a female servant. Breaking into his estate, they assassinated Toshizo, ending his ignorant and selfish rule.[1]
