Kameyama Castle (亀山城) is a castle located in Kameyama in Tamba, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki member and samurai Yasuke infiltrated the castle secretly to find Hosokawa Tama's brother Akechi Mitsuyoshi, who was taken captive by Portuguese Master Templar Nuno Caro to ensure Tama's cooperation. Within the lower storage unit of the castle, Yasuke managed to find and rescue the young Akechi, but the boy needed to recover his family's katana from Caro's soldier Baltazar. Escorting Mitsuyoshi outside to safety, he regressed back into castle, found Baltazar, and defeated him and his men in combat. After acquiring the katana and an amulet Howl of the Dragon from Baltazar's personal effects, Yasuke left to meet with Tama and Mitsuyoshi at Atago Shrine.[1]
At some point, Yasuke and his fellow Kakushiba ikki Fujibayashi Naoe returned to the castle as they tracked down Masatoshi Nakahara, a target given by Hori Hidemasa who sought to find and punish those who betrayed Oda Nobunaga. Finding the samurai besides a line of severed heads at the castle, the pair assassinated Nakahara and recovered a katana Warrior's Garden.[2] While there, the pair eliminated its five samurai daisho, looted the Hidden Servant Kosode from the castle's treasure chest,[3] collected a unique Chinese furniture for Niwa Nagahide,[4] and climbed atop its tenshu to survey the land.[3]
