Kobayakawa Heitaro (died 1585) was a Japanese spy who served under Yasuhira, the spymaster of the Japanese Templar Kimura Yukari, in Awaji during the late Sengoku period.

Biography[edit | edit source]

A lover of poetry, Heitaro came to serve as a spy for Yasuhira, one of Kimura Yukari's three taishō (大将, lit. "general").[1] In 1585, after the death of Yukari,[2] Heitaro grew paranoid of a possible traitor in their ranks and wrote down a note about So Sachihiko being the culprit and the remaining captains of Imagawa Tomeji being stationed at Yura Castle.[1]

After the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke agreed to help Hattori Hanzō's ally Konatsu eliminate the remaining Sanzoku Ippa members, they investigated the Sumoto Hachiman Shrine. There, they found Heitaro and assassinated him, before recovering his note and the Deathseeker Armor from his personal effects.[1]
