Sumoto Hachiman Shrine was a Shinto shrine dedicated to Hachiman that was located in the town of Sumoto in Awaji, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1585, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke traveled to the shrine after agreeing to help Konatsu in eliminating the remaining Sanzoku Ippa operatives. Near the shrine's entrance, they discovered one of Yasuhira's spies Kobayakawa Heitaro and promptly assassinated him. They later recovered the Deathseeker Armor and a note accusing So Sachihiko of being a traitor and his location at Yuraminato Shrine and detailing Imagawa Tomeji's remaining captains stationed at Yura Castle from Heitaro's personal effects.[1] While there, the pair paid their respects at two of its smaller shrines.[2]
