Fujichika Nakayama (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai who served under Oda Nobunaga.

Biography

In 1582, Nakayama was directed by a representative of Akechi Mitsuhide to order the servants to hide and not raise the alarm upon the arrival of Mitsuhide and his men when they attacked Oda Nobunaga at Honnō-ji. As a result of Nobunaga's death, Nakayama found a new clan to serve under at Takatsuki Castle and denied his presence at the temple.[1]

Sometime after the incident, Hori Hidemasa, a former retainer of Nobunaga serving under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, met with the Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke and tasked him to deal with the traitors involved in Nobunaga's death. Yasuke, along with fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, obliged and began hunting down the traitors.[1]

From Hidemasa's intel, Naoe and Yasuke traveled to Takatsuki Castle and discovered Nakayama working within its tenshu. Confronting him, they promptly assassinated Nakayama and retrieved the bow Ill-Fated String from his personal effects, alongside the letter containing his orders to betray Nobunaga.[1]
