They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Ember.

Ember (熾火; died 1582) was a Japanese rōnin and participant in kabukimono culture located in Katano.

Biography[edit | edit source]

As a kabukimono, Ember was one of the many rōnin who attacked the communities across the provinces of Izumi Settsu and Harima. However, the priest Shin'nyo of the Nishinomiya Shrine met with and sought the help of the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe to assassinate eight of their leaders.[1]

By 1582, Ember led his group, the Firebrands, on a mission to "purify" the world with fire, as a means of his pyromaniacal tendencies. Stationed at some burned down buildings near the Temple of Osaka, the rōnin watched over their incendiary weapons and resources. However, he was soon found and assassinated by Naoe, who acquired a teppō Spark of Ember from his personal effects.[1]
