Ōmi (近江) was a province of Japan which today corresponds to Shiga Prefecture.[1] During the Sengoku period, it bordered the provinces of Wakasa to the northwest, Iga to the south, and Yamashiro to the southwest. The province was notable for Lake Biwa, the country's largest lake, as well as the city of Azuchi and its castle, which served as the seat of power of Oda Nobunaga.[2]
