Sentinels are a type of digital constructs created by Abstergo Industries for the purposes of protecting the Animus EGO from anomalies, hackers, and other threats.[1]

When the digitally constructed Guide contacted an Animus EGO user during their sessions reliving the genetic memories of Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, it pulled them from the simulation and forced the user to overcome a number of Sentinels as they navigated the Memory Corridor to assist the artificial intelligence. [citation needed] For the sake of familiarity for the user, these Sentinels took the form of enemies that Naoe and Yasuke had encountered in their travels throughout Sengoku period Japan.[2]
