Gyoji was a Japanese man and an arena host who lived in the Yamato Province during the late Sengoku period.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1582, Gyoji had installed and hosted a tournament to invite all wandering fighters to engage in duels. His initial plan was to make sure the temple and its grounds worked to rid the land of any hostile warriors. However, the temple's former monk Unkai became an unstoppable duelist and killed any challenger, hostile or not. He soon grew his own collective and they overrode Gyoji's control on the tournament.[1]

With this new problem growing, Gyoji traveled to Izumi Settsu to find the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke. Outside Tomiko's Homestead, he fortunately made their acquiantances and offered them to come to his tournament in Yamato. Upon their arrival, Gyoji welcomed them as fearsome warriors to contest Unkai and his fellow competitors. Secretly, he asked Naoe and Yasuke to save them all from their cruel grasp. After lengthy and harsh contests, Naoe and Yasuke managed to defeat all of them including Unkai. With them gone, Gyoji met them aside and thanked them for killing Unkai and his collective before the pair left.[1]
