Hasegawa Magobei (died 1585) was a Japanese samurai and a captain who served under the Japanese Templar Kimura Yukari's enforcer Imagawa Tomeji in Awaji during the late Sengoku period.

Biography

In 1585, Magobei was a known practitioner of dual-wielding katanas. Despite being allergic to areca nuts, he developed a habit of chewing on them to stay alert[1] because the nuts contained the alkaloid stimulant arecoline.[2] Serving Tomeji, he prowled the island and violently kept the people in line to expand Yukari's control over Awaji. After the Master Assassin Fujibayashi Tsuyu told her daughter Naoe and Yasuke about Magobei, the two Kakushiba ikki members found him during a patrol, killed him, and recovered the spare katana Loyalty Unbound from his personal effects.[1]
