Yasuke (Japanese: 弥助 or 弥介) was an African servant who to Oda Nobunaga c. 1579, near the end of the Sengoku period. Brought over by the Portuguese Empire,[1] he later attained the rank of samurai and participated in a raid against Fujibayashi Naoe's village in Iga Province, before eventually joining the Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins.[2]
