Suzu was a Japanese woman and the wife of Hideyoshi commander Tokubei in the Harima Province during the late Sengoku period.
Biography
By 1582, Suzu had been married to Hideyoshi commander Tokubei but also knew of his gambling addiction and numerous debts. However, she grew suspicious of his actions and soon found a shrine fortune among his belongings.[1] After an attack on Himeji Castle from rōnin occurred,[2] she was soon attacked by bandits at their home as they interrogated her for Tokubei's location. Fortunately, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke came and defeated the attackers, saving Suzu. Talking with them, she gave them the shrine fortune and told them that he may be at the gambling den in town before they left.[1]
