| They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Sen. This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias. |
Sen was a pirate active in Sengoku period Japan. He earned a name for himself by pillaging and terrorizing the coasts of Wakasa. In 1582, Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke were tasked with eliminating all members of the Pirate Alliance, including Sen. By this time, Sen had left the Pirate Alliance and was truly remorseful, dedicating his life to the betterment of others.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Life of piracy[edit | edit source]
Sen was a well-known pirate in the region of Wakasa, being part of the dreadful Pirate Alliance that terrorized the region. He had a wife who constantly begged him to leave that life, but Sen never listened to her. At some point, his wife died under unknown circumstances, with Sen declaring that his foolishness was at fault for it. Afterwards, he decided to retire from the pirate life, retreating to the small village of Yura in northern Tamba.[1]
Encounter with Naoe and Yasuke[edit | edit source]
In 1582, Shido put a bounty on all the Pirate Alliance members, with Naoe and Yasuke going after all of them and eventually reaching Yura. By this time, Sen had earned a reputation as a good man in the small village, helping its inhabitants by fishing for them, which led to both children and adults taking a liking to him. He even threw his old weapons in a chest on the nearby coast, symbolizing that he had abandoned his previous life.[1]
When confronted by Naoe and Yasuke, the Kakushiba ikki members saw that Sen had genuinely changed his ways and tried to leave his past days as a pirate behind him. Ultimately, they decided to spare his life, allowing Sen to live a peaceful life in Yura where he continued to do his best helping his fellow villagers.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Sen is a character in the 2025 video game Assassin's Creed: Shadows, serving as one of the targets in the memory "The Pirate Alliance". He is notably the only target that Naoe and Yasuke have the option of sparing after talking to him and determining he is trying to change for the better.
If Canon Mode is enabled, then the option to kill Sen is entirely removed, implying that Naoe and Yasuke canonically spared him. However, the player can still kill Sen with Canon Mode enabled if they skip the conversation with him and attack him straightaway. The game will not punish the player for this and they will not be desynchronized, leaving Sen's true fate slightly ambiguous.
