Murakami Norimasa was a monk and a member of the Iga ikki during the 16th century.
Biography
As one of the senior members of the league, Norimasa has presided over many assemblies at the Aekuni Shrine where the Iga shinobi would gather to renew their vows to the ikki. On 30 September 1581, Norimasa similarly led the assembly, with the addition of newcomer and Fujibayashi Nagato's daughter, Naoe. Early on during the assembly, their meeting was interrupted by the arrival of Hattori Hanzō, who returned to Iga after quite some time. Norimasa welcomed Hanzo to the meeting, who then announced that Oda Nobunaga was leading an army to invade Iga alongside the Koga ikki, with the invasion being more massive than the previous one in 1581.[1]
Norimasa and his fellow Igans later bore witness to a duel fought between Naoe and Fujita Juro when the latter questioned Naoe's worthiness as a warrior of the league. After Naoe defeated Juro, Norimasa and the Igans returned to continue their assembly, renewing their vows as they all agreed to stand against Nobunaga.[1]
