Hongan-ji Kennyo (本願寺 顕如; 1543 – 1592), also known as Kōsa (光佐), was the eleventh head of the Hongan-ji in Kyoto. As Chief Abbot of the Ishiyama Hongan-ji, Kennyo led the Ikkō-ikki in a ten-year resistance against Oda Nobunaga, which ultimately resulted in their defeat and the destruction of ikki's stronghold.[1]
Kennyo's son, Kyonyo, refused to accept defeat and continued his resistance against Nobunaga, which led Kennyo to disown him.[2]
