Akumu (died 1582) was a Japanese archer and a member of the Winter Raiders during the 16th century.

Biography

By 1582, Akumu joined a group of trained warriors, led by Jinbei, that safeguarded the region Kii, especially the village of Gobo. However, after some consideration, Gobo's elder banished them without cause to further stockpile their resources for him and the villagers. Betrayed, the warriors became marauders and raided the region and killed anyone who tried to stop them every winter.[1]

When the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke met with Gobo's elder and local woman Rin, they agreed to help locate and assassinate the Winter Raiders. Following a clue from the Gobo elder, they investigated and found Akumu's location. Confronting her, Naoe and Yasuke fought and killed Akumu. They later acquired a bow, A Thousand Cuts, and a letter to Sobei from Akumu's personal effects.[1]

Behind the scenes

Yasha may be killed either on a cliff west of Takahara Village during the winter or at the Winter Raiders' base, Sandanbeki Cave, with her fellow raiders during the other seasons.[1]
