They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Chief Cuckoo.

Chief Cuckoo (阿国団の頭; died 1582) was a Japanese rōnin and participant in kabukimono culture located in Katano.

Biography

As a kabukimono, Chief Cuckoo was one of the many rōnin who attacked communities across the provinces of Izumi Settsu and Harima. However, the Shinto priest Shin'nyo at the Nishinomiya Shrine met with and sought the help of the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe to assassinate eight of their leaders.[1]

By 1582, Chief Cuckoo and his gang, left lordless and without a home by the war, attacked Katano's citizens at their own whims. Stationed at Katano Oil Trading, he watched over the storage's resources until Naoe found and assassinated him, looting the naginata Prancing Naginata from his corpse.[1]
