Part of the street gang Kabukimono, Big Sueki was one of eight rōnin, who were terrozing communities across the provinces Izumi Settsu and Harima. However, their actions were noted by the priest Shin'nyo of the Nishinomiya Shrine, who sought and acquired the help of the Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe to be rid of them.[1]
