Yoshiharu was a Japanese man from Iga during the late Sengoku period.[1] He was a brother to the yamabushi Genpaku[2] and the grandfather of Murasaki.

Biography[edit | edit source]

After the Tenshō Iga War in 1581, Yoshiharu lost nearly his entire family except for his granddaughter Murasaki. As a result, Oda troops occupied their home while he and Murasaki wandered the province in search of a new home.[3]

In 1582, they found an abandoned cabin and rested there only for a stranger to promptly attack them. Fortunately, their fellow Igan shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe was nearby and rescued them, fighting and killing their attacker.[4][2]

Naoe checked on Yoshiharu and Murasaki as the elderly man told her that his granddaughter was severely hurt. Naoe left to look for help, bringing her "auntie" Matsu to treat the girl's injuries[4] while Naoe went to fetch maggots.
