Kaede (died c. 1570s) was a Japanese Assassin who operated during the mid-16th century.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Originally posted in Izumi Settsu, Kaede later received the Assassin leader Fujibayashi Tsuyu's orders to relocate to Ōmi, Japan in effort to establish an outpost in the region. Some time after establishing the outpost, Kaede received a letter from Tsuyu informing them of a group[1] who had discovered the location where the Assassins kept the Imperial Regalia, which Emperor Go-Nara had entrusted to their protection.[2]
Kaede was ordered to abandon the expansion efforts and return to Settsu to prepare for the group's impending attack. Kaede did not survive the battle and was among the Assassins who perished in the kofun where the artifacts were kept. Years later in 1582, Tsuyu's daughter Naoe recovered Kaede's correspondence with her mother while she sought to learn more about the Assassins.[1]
