Yoshiharu was a Japanese man from Iga and the grandfather of Murasaki during the late Sengoku period.

Biography

After the Tenshō Iga War, Yoshiharu lost nearly his whole family except for his granddaughter Murasaki. As a result, their home was under the control of Oda warriors while he and Murasaki wandered the province for a new home.[1] Within a year of wandering, they came across an abandoned cabin and rested there. However, they were attacked by a stranger who nearly killed them. Fortunately, they were saved by the Kakushiba ikki member and shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe, who fought and killed their attacker.[2][3]

Naoe checked on Yoshiharu and Murasaki as the elderly man told her that his granddaughter is hurt all over while Naoe promised to bring someone to help her. While Naoe informed her "auntie" Matsu of the girl's injuries, Matsu went to tend to Yoshiharu and her granddaughter[2] while Naoe fetched maggots. However, it was all for naught as the young girl was never injured but wanted Yoshiharu and her to stay at the cabin.[4]

While Matsu prepared her famous misoshiru and Naoe retrieved Yoshiharu's lanterns from his former residence, Yoshiharu spent more time with Matsu and felt content with her company. When dinner was set, all four began to eat and then Murasaki abruptly pleaded for her grandfather to stay as she had not seen him smile in a while. With Naoe and Matsu's insistence, Yoshiharu agreed to stay for a season while Matsu promised to train Murasaki as a shinobi while they helped Matsu out at her new home.[1]

Behind the scenes

Yoshiharu is a fictional character in Assassin's Creed: Shadows, who happens to be the brother of the yamabushi Genpaku, who met Naoe and fellow Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke in Yamato and asked for their help against the false yamabushi imposters.[3]
