Genzaburo (died 1582) was a Japanese military commander under Bessho clan member Bessho Harumasa.

Biography

In 1582, after Bessho Harumasa's death and learning of Koshiro's part in his downfall,[1] Genzaburo ordered his remaining unit to assassinate Koshiro at Kyokaiji Temple. However, upon his unit's failure, they soon split apart and awaited his next orders. Yet, Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe met with Koshiro after their failed attempt and promised to hunt them down.[2]

Genzaburo stationed himself at Zuiganji Temple alone while corresponding with his men through letters. Yet, all of Genzaburo unit fell to Naoe, who later found his location after speaking with Koshiro. At the temple, Genzaburo received Naoe and spoke to her about his unit's callous methods and his devotion to Harumasa. After they spoke, they engaged each other in a fight but Genzaburo fatally fell to her blade. Naoe later found Koshiro arriving afterwards and warned him to not to risk his life again for her sake. Before leaving, she retrieved the о̄dachi Tactician's Steel from Genzaburo's personal effects.[2]
