The Pirate Alliance was a group of Japanese pirates that terrorized the population of Wakasa during the late Sengoku period.[1]
History
By 1582, the Pirate Alliance was formed and wreaked havoc across Wakasa. Their actions caught the attention of Takeda Motoaki, a member of the secret organization Shinbakufu, who striked a deal with member Samemaru to massacre the Niwa clan in both Obama[2] and Tsuruga.[3]
Meanwhile, Samemaru also found a relationship with the Portuguese Templar Duarte de Melo within the slave trade.[4] However, the alliance's actions caught the attention of the biwa master Shido, who placed a post in Tsuraga for anyone to aid in taking down this league of pirates.[1]
When the pirates attacked Niwa Nagahide in Obama, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke were fortunate to be there to assist him in defeating his attackers. Afterwards, they spoke about "The Performer" being behind this attack on Nagahide and his clan.[2] They later traveled to Tsuraga, where they protected more Niwa clan members from the pirates' attacks before one of the elders told them of biwa music being found at Saifukuji Temple.[3]
Whilst they were in Tsuruga, Naoe and Yasuke saw the post of the Pirate Alliance and decided to aid Shido in dealing with the pirates. They eventually assassinated every member of the league, with the exception of Sen, who left his pirate ways after his wife's death and became a protector of Yura in Tamba. From their conversation with Sen,[1] they later investigated a commotion revolving around "The Poisoner" and his daughter Oni-yuri.[5] At the end of their investigation, they gained Oni-yuri as a new ally for their league.[6]
After Samemaru and Takeda Motoaki died at the hands of Yasuke and Naoe, respectively,[7] the pair met with Shido again and gifted him Motoaki's biwa, informed him of Motoaki's initial plan against them, and told him of the alliance's downfall. Thanking them, Shido gifted them a key to a chest at Koromodako Cave and also joined their league as a scout.[1]
