Red Walls was a virtual representation of one of Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke's genetic memories, relived through the Animus EGO.

Description

Naoe and Yasuke travels to Wakasa to join Lord Niwa Nagahide in the hunt for a Shinbakufu member.

Dialogue

Naoe and Yasuke arrived in Obama, where Niwa Nagahide lives in. Close to a bridge near the Trading Port, they heard a voice calling out to them.

• Shinobi: If you can see me, then I am here. Come closer, I have information about the ones you seek.

The two tracked the voice to a woman under the bridge and talked to her.

• Shinobi: It's Lord Niwa Nagahide. He's in trouble.

NaoeYasuke

• Naoe: Niwa Nagahide. One of Oda Nobunaga's bloodthirsty generals.
• Shinobi: There has been suspicious activity at his Obama estate. And now, violence has broken out.
• Naoe: Then I had better talk to him while I still can.

• Yasuke: Lord Nagahide. I fought with him in Iga. What trouble is this?
• Shinobi: There has been suspicious activity at his Obama estate. And now, violence has broken out.
• Yasuke: Then I had better talk to him while I still can.

Naoe and Yasuke traveled to Nagahide's estate in the north of the city and found a small crowd outside.

NaoeYasuke

• Naoe: The estate. Already a crowd.

• Yasuke: Good. I have arrived in time.

Naoe and Yasuke overheard some conversation, a child talking with his father first.

• Child: Father, where did the guards go?
• Man 1: Er, they will be back before long. Come. We should leave.

They also listened to another man and a woman.

• Woman: I heard a scream. I hope nothing has happened to the Niwa family!
• Man 2: (laughs) Would that be such a bad thing?

At a small camp outside the residence, Naoe and Yasuke overheard a pair of guards talking about their lord.

• Ashigaru Spearman 1: Lord Nagahide has been in there for a while.
• Ashigaru Spearman 2: Have confidence in the great lord! He can handle anyone with his blade. I hope.

Naoe and Yasuke deduced that the estate has been overran by a group of bandits. They managed to find an opening to get into the estate unnoticed.

NaoeYasuke

• Naoe: Hmm. Silence.

As she got closer, she heard a sound.

• Naoe: Is that a melody I hear?

Off to one side of the residence, Naoe found a document detailing some history of the Takeda clan.

History of the Takeda - Volume I

When they were rulers of Wakasa, Nochiseyama Castle was home to the Takeda Clan.

In 1522, Takeda Motomitsu, a fifth generation Wakasa Takeda lord, built Nochiseyama on a mountain overlooking Obama Bay. It is the biggest mountaintop castle in Wakasa.

Naoe entered the residence and found Niwa Nagahide fighting against the bandits.

• Niwa Nagahide: You! You are not one of them! Help me dispose of these snakes!

Having eliminated the bandits, she returned to a room closer to the entrance where some bodies lay.

• Naoe: These are Niwa Nagahide's guards. Family too. Blood... so much blood. Cruel.

She found a list on the floor of this room.

Mian, Hong's stall, specially deliver to the Lady's quarters at noon.

In the next room north, she found an instruction note.

Niwa Nagahide's Instructions

Ensure the room is devoid of dirt and dust. I plan to use it to display certain valuables.

Do not mention the room to Lady Niwa, it will be a surprise.

- Niwa Nagahide

Naoe returned and spoke to the daimyō.

• Niwa Nagahide: (pants) There were more of those thugs than I expected. Thank you.
• Naoe: I am Naoe, an ally of Yasuke. I came to speak with you.
• Niwa Nagahide: Good to know you, Naoe. I remember Yasuke. A good man and warrior. Talk must come later. First, let us attend to the dead.

• Yasuke: It is too quiet here.

As he got closer, he heard a sound.

Naoe and Yasuke joined Nagahide outside the residence where the bodies of the deceased were burned.

• Niwa Nagahide: Life all ends the same. No matter what we've done, we end up in flames. Nothing matters.
• Yasuke: We can choose to leave this land better than we found it.
• Niwa Nagahide: To die like that, so quickly. I am glad he is not here to bear the shame. My overconfidence would have been my downfall if you did not arrive.
• Naoe: Who are these attackers?
• Niwa Nagahide: I do not know, but my clan is being hunted.
  Threats. Ambushes. Murders. And these killers are loyal. I could not get a single word from their lips. I suspect they are the same people who hunted down Lord Nobunaga. That damned Akechi Mitsuhide - misplaced trust, a lethal mistake.

• Niwa Nagahide: All I have learned is they are led by a man who wears a mask. The Performer.
• Naoe: The Performer... does he wear a fox mask?
• Yasuke: You are not the only one he has disturbed. We would like to find him.
• Niwa Nagahide: As would I. Perhaps I know one who can help. A man named Hong who deals in information. Say "mian" to him, and he will know I sent you. Look for the red lanterns. Or, use your nose. You will not miss him.

Naoe and Yasuke accepted Nagahide's information and bid him goodbye as he left.

• Naoe: Was that man involved in the invasion of Iga?
• Yasuke: Yes, he was. As were many others.
• Naoe: (sighs) That is the past. We are here now. Fighting for the future. A trail of blood, a pile of bodies. Our enemy works quickly and ruthlessly.
• Yasuke: Then we must be quicker and look for the man Lord Nagahide mentioned.
• Naoe: Hong. But what did he mean by using our noses?
• Yasuke: I thought you would know.
• Naoe: Why would I know?
• Yasuke: (laughs)
• Naoe: We should start.

NaoeYasuke

• Naoe: I'll go on ahead.
• Yasuke: I will meet you there.

Yasuke first took his leave. Shortly after, Nagahide spoke to Naoe again.

• Niwa Nagahide: When you meet Hong, tell him to save a bowl for me.
• Naoe: A bowl of what?
• Niwa Nagahide: You will know it when you taste it.

• Yasuke: My nose will lead the way.
• Naoe: I will meet you there.

Naoe first took her leave. Shortly after, Nagahide spoke to Yasuke again.

• Niwa Nagahide: When you meet Hong, tell him to save a bowl for me.
• Yasuke: A bowl of...?
• Niwa Nagahide: You will know it when you taste it.

Outcome

Naoe and Yasuke helped save Niwa Nagahide from a group of outlaws hired by The Performer. After dealing with the dead, the daimyō sent them both to seek out a man named Hong who may have information on the attackers.
