Kane, also known as Yasukane, was a Japanese ashigaru alongside his associate Kinu before they deserted their positions. After a brief time on the lam, they soon began a new endeavor as treasure hunters before meeting Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, who, after some training, offered them a place at their homestead.

On 6 October 1579, Kane and Kinu traveled in Iga and came across a vegetable garden of someone's home. After stealing many of the vegetables, they also killed a deer and recovered its meat while leaving its body behind. At their makeshift camp, Kane argued with Kane over their meal before they were confronted by a young kunoichi-in-training Fujibayashi Naoe. While trying to ease tensions, they saw that she only carried a bokken. Wielding their katanas, they fought against Naoe, but were overwhelmed and ran away from her.[1]
