Ido Yoshihiro (died 1581), also known as the Onryo Samurai, was a Japanese samurai who served under Oda Nobunaga during the late 16th century. He was a member of the Shinbafuku and was the father of Junjiro, who was a former monk-in-training under Sorin.

Biography

On 30 September 1581, while using Nobunaga's invasion of Iga as cover, Yoshihiro was sent by the Shinbafuku to recover the box[1] containing the Imperial Regalia Yasakani no Magatama,[2] which had been hidden by Fujibayashi Nagato in the Mihata Kofun. Inside the tomb, Yoshihiro found Nagato's daughter Naoe who had sent by her father to recover the artifact. Yoshihiro easily overpowered Naoe for possession of the box and used his kanabō to hit Naoe in the face and knock her out cold. Having been alerted by his guard about the approaching Nagato, Yoshihiro quickly fled the area.[1]

Yoshihiro returned to Katano Castle, where he waited while having the box remaining in his possession. This did not last long as Naoe, having recovered from her injuries, infiltrated the castle and assassinated Yoshihiro, reclaiming the box from him.[3]
