| They call me many things: Murderer. Cutthroat. Thief. But you may call me Gamemaker. This article is about a subject that lacks an official name and is known only by its nickname, title, or alias. |
The Gamemaker was a Japanese criminal and a member of a child-abduction ring located in Osaka.
Biography
As a baby, the Gamemaker was kidnapped by Kacho, who raised her as her own, yet the young woman never had a name. Believing Kacho to be her mother, she soon learned of Kacho's misdeeds and wanted to leave. Unfortunately, she begrudgingly became part of Kacho's child kidnapping ring. Her captor, alongside her fellow kidnappers Richo, Shucho and Mucho, abducted children from wealthy businesspeople in order to gain control of their trades. While they used paper butterflies as a means of communication, the Gamemaker saw her chance to leave and to take down Kacho's operation.[1]
In 1582, the Gamemaker met with kunoichi Fujibayashi Naoe and offered her a game to find all the paper butterflies. In reality, she led Naoe to find the notes during the game, which detailed Kacho's plan and the locations of her co-conspirators, whom soon died by Naoe's hand. From her investigation, Naoe determined Kacho being at Nishinomaru Garden, west of Osaka Castle, and ultimately assassinated her. However, before dying, Kacho revealed the Gamemaker's part in her scheme.[1]
Meeting with Naoe again, the Gamemaker was confronted and explained her story to Naoe and thanked her for saving the children. She asked for one favor, which was for Naoe to give her a name. Naoe complied and gave her a new chance to live before leaving her.[1]
Personality and traits
The Gamemaker wielded atantō as her main weapon.[2]
Behind the scenes
If Canon Mode is enabled, then the Gamemaker is indefinitely spared. The player also has a choice between naming her O-Cho, Ageha, or Monshiro, each after different types of butterflies, but it has no bearing on her fate.
