Nishinomaru Garden

Nishinomaru Garden was a garden located west of Osaka Castle in Izumi Settsu, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In early 1582, the Iga kunoichi Fujibayashi Naoe tracked down the leader of a local kidnapping ring to the garden. Finding a small residence beside the garden, she located the leader, Kacho, and confronted her. Kacho expressed her disappointment over her daughter's betrayal before attacking Naoe, who eventually killed her after a short duel.[1]
Later that year, Naoe and her ally Yasuke traveled to the garden after following a clue leading to Akane, a kunoichi in the employ of Genzaburo. A former Bessho clan commander, Genzaburo had ordered Akane and her fellow unit members to kill his former soldier Koshiro,[2] who had aided Naoe and Yasuke in taking down Bessho Harumasa.[3] At the garden, Naoe and Yasuke witnessed Akane calmly playing her biwa set and confronted her. Ultimately killing Akane, they retrieved a bow, The Poisoner's Message, from her personal effects.[2]
