Akechi Mitsuhisa (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and member of the Akechi clan during the late Sengoku period.
Biography
By the 1570s, Mitsuhisa was in charge of Tamba under his uncle Akechi Mitsuhide's discretion. However, Mitsuhisa sought to use his duty to abuse his power and take his share of the silver of Tamba's mines. However, his abuse of power did not go unnoticed as the Kakushiba ikki member Fubuki helped the locals fight against his forces. In Ikuno, at one instance, Fubuki managed to save a young orphan boy named Yagoro from his soldiers. However, one day, he had his men overwhelm the Assassin before he laid the fatal blow against her.[1]
As a result, Yagoro, inspired by Fubuki's actions, began to train like her and even made his own Hidden Blade. By 1582, he met with the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, who agreed him in accomplishing his mission against Mitsuhisa and welcomed him into their league.[2] Together, they all ventured to Fukuchiyama Castle to confront Mitsuhisa and found him surrounded by four guards. Bested, Mitsuhisa fell to his knees while Yagoro confronted him. Remembering Yagoro, Mitsuhisa chastized him for being small and a poor choice as his people's protector. Angered, Yagoro used his hidden blade and assassinated Mitsuhisa, ending his rule over the province.[1]
