Kinu was a Japanese ashigaru alongside his associate Kane before they deserted their positions. While traveling across the land together, they later became treasure hunters before meeting Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, who, after reluctantly giving them some training, offered them a place at their home.

On 6 October 1579, Kinu and Kane traveled in Iga and raided one of its resident's vegetable garden outside the home. After stealing some of the crops, they also killed a deer and harvested its meat while leaving its carcass behind. At their makeshift camp, Kinu and Kane fussed over their meal before they were confronted by a young kunoichi-in-training Fujibayashi Naoe. While pleading for mercy, they noticed that she only wielded a bokken. Drawing their katanas, they fought against Naoe, but were outmatched and fled into the woods.[1]
