Ido Yoshihiro (井戶良弘, died 1581), also known as the Onryo Samurai, was a Japanese samurai who served under Oda Nobunaga during the late 16th century. He was a member of the Shinbakufu and the father of Junjiro, a young monk training under Sorin.
Biography
On 30 September 1581, while using Nobunaga's invasion of Iga as cover, Yoshihiro was sent by the Shinbakufu to recover the box[1] containing the Imperial Regalia Yasakani no Magatama,[2] which had been hidden by Fujibayashi Nagato in the Mihata Kofun. Inside the tomb, Yoshihiro found Nagato's daughter Naoe, who had been sent by her father to recover the artifact. Yoshihiro easily overpowered her for possession of the box and used his kanabō to hit Naoe in the face and knock her out.[1]
Alerted by his guard about the approaching Nagato, Yoshihiro quickly fled the area,[1] retreating to Katano Castle in Izumi Settsu. There, he awaited the arrival of the other Shinbakufu while safeguarding the box. However, shortly before the Shinbakufu's arrival, Naoe, having recovered from her injuries, infiltrated the castle and assassinated Yoshihiro with her Hidden Blade to retrieve the box.[3]
