Hiei Foothill was a low hill at Mount Hiei in western Ōmi, Japan.
History
In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke traveled to the tower at Hiei Foothill after receiving information about Kaji of the Godai Shinobi from his former mentor Shōtei. Upon arrival, they caught sight of Kaji having set the tower on fire and then confronted and assassinated him. After retrieving the tantō Cindersteel from Kaji's personal effects,[1] they climbed atop the peak of the tower to survey the land.[2]
