Usami Yoshiko (宇佐美 吉子)was a Japanese concubine who served the Oda clan at Honnō-ji.

Biography[edit | edit source]

In 1582, while working at Honnō-ji, Yoshiko fell in love with a samurai and told him about a secret passage that sneaked in lovers and other visitors. However, the samurai secretly worked for Akechi Mitsuhide, who used this passage to attack Oda Nobunaga during the Honnō-ji incident, and abandoned Yoshiko shortly thereafter.[1]

Following Nobunaga's death, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's retainer Hori Hidemasa met with the Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke and asked for his help to track down and eliminate the traitors who had helped Mitsuhide. Alongside fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, Yasuke followed Hidemasa's lead and found Yoshiko's location in a house near Katano Castle. There, the pair confronted Yoshiko, who explained what she had done and how she felt uneasy since the incident. Seeing her remorse, Yasuke and Naoe agreed to spare her and let her leave Katano.[1]
