The Tormentor (died 1582) was a Japanese criminal and member of the Seta River Killers hired by the Japanese Rite of the Templar Order during the late Sengoku period.
Biography
In 1582, the Tormentor was part of a group of hired killers who were tasked to eliminate influential local people within the communities of Izumi Settsu and Ōmi. The Tormentor was assigned to kill a kimono vendor by his overseer, The Exterminator, and to bring proof of her death to him.[1]
However, the Kakushiba ikki members Yasuke and Fujibayashi Naoe were informed of the killers' plans after aiding the killers' former colleague Rufino, a Portuguese translator, on stopping their kill contracts.[1]
Naoe and Yasuke were able to locate the Tormentor south of Takatsuki by a river. There, they caught sight of him about to kill the vendor after killing her companion and thus confronted the killer. Naoe and Yasuke managed to best and kill the Tormentor and retrieved his kill assignment from the Exterminator from his personal effects.[1]
