Takahashi Saburo (died 1582) was a Japanese samurai and member of the Takahashi clan who lived in Kyoto.
Biography
One of five sons of Takahashi Inoshichi, Saburo grew up sickly but hated the way his mother doted on him. He and his siblings Taro, Shiro, Ichi-Hime, and Jiro were then intensively trained by their father after their mother's passing, except for Goro. Under his father's orders, he, Shiro, Taro, and Jiro terrorized and attacked Kyoto's locals.[1]
By 1582, Saburo was seen as the least skilled, when compared to Taro, Shiro, and Jiro, and implored Ichi-Hime for private training, yet she refused.[1] Soon enough, his family's behavior garnered the attention of Ujimasa, an ally of former Ise clan leader Ise Sadatame, who met with Sadatame's allies, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke, about ridding Kyoto of the Takahashi thugs.[2]
Finding out about Saburo's patrol in the southwestern part of Kyoto, the Kakushiba ikki members found him along with his protection detail. Ultimately, Saburo met his demise at Naoe and Yasuke's hands.[1]
Personality and traits
Takahashi Saburo was an erratic and foul-tempered samurai, who carried a katana as his main weapon. His deposition came from his own insecurity of feeling less adept with his sword-fighting when in comparison with his other siblings.[1]
Behind the scenes
Depending on the player's choice and recovering all of the clues, if Takahashi Inoshichi is killed first, Saburo will join Taro, Shiro, and Jiro at the secret garden to avenge their father. Meanwhile, Goro and Ichi-Hime are free from their family. Thus, Saburo may be killed on the streets of Kyoto or at the garden.
