Heiji was a Japanese blacksmith in lived in the region of Izumi Settsu during the 16th century.
Biography
Heiji was a second generation resident of Sakai, whose parents were the best in making tobacco knives in the city. He was also a friend of Tomiko and one point, came to be in her debt. Following his parents death, Heiji stopped the tobacco knife business and had them melted down.[1]
Around 1582, a group of thugs came to harrass Heiji and demanded him to make knives for their group. The shinobi Fujibayashi Naoe, who was sent by Tomiko to recruit Heiji, came upon the sight of the thugs harrasing Heiji and eliminated them. Having been aware he owed Tomiko a favor, Heiji promptly accepted the offer, seeing as he had nothing left in Sakai.[1]
After moving to Tomiko's homestead, which was not a hideout for Naoe's league, a forge was built for Heiji,[1] where he offered weapon upgrading services for Naoe, and subsequently the samurai Yasuke.[2]
