Taguchi Myoga was a Japanese monk and a Bō master who lived during the late Sengoku period.
Biography[edit | edit source]
At some point in his life, Taguchi Myoga led his own teaching grounds of the Bō at Awaji near Kannoji Temple. He soon met with an Igan shinobi and Master Assassin Tsuyu, who inquired for his council. During their meeting, Tsuyu learned how to handle the bō and then challenged Myoga to a duel. After accepting it, he was soon bested by Tsuyu, who began to trust a man with great character. She soon gave him a key to a sacred treasure and to hide it from the Sanzoku Ippa. He could only give it to one who had proven his worth as he did to Tsuyu.[1]
In 1585, Myoga was visited by Tsuyu's daughter and Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, who came to acquire the key Tsuyu gave him to safeguard. Myoga soon tested Naoe in learning the bō and had her learn the postures of the weapon against his student. After Naoe quickly learned his teachings, Myoga reminded her that to retrieve the key, she must best him. Challenging her, Myoga fought against Naoe but he was bested like before. He later gave her the key's location at Mountainside Ruins but warned her of Kimura Yukari's tight control of the island. Before parting, Myoga gave her the Elegance Defined trinket as a gift.[2]
