Overview of Lake Biwa in Omi

Ōmi (近江) was a province of Japan which now comprises of Shiga Prefecture in modern day.[1] During the Sengoku period, it bordered the provinces of Wakasa to the north, Iga and Yamato to the south, and Yamashiro and Tamba to the south. The province was notable for Lake Biwa, the country's largest lake, as well as the city of Azuchi and its castle, which served as the seat of power of Oda Nobunaga.[2]
