Yamamoto Masakatsu was a Japanese samurai who lived during the 16th century.

As a swordmaster, Masakatsu offered kata lessons in Izumi Settsu to whoever wished to learn. In 1582, while based on an island west of Osaka, Masakatsu was sought out by the samurai and Oda Nobunaga's former retainer Yasuke who wished to learn from him. After passing his knowledge of kata, Masakatsu was subsequently sought out again by Yasuke in Takasago Wetlands bear Akashi.[1]
