Usami Yoshiko was a Japanese concubine who served under the Oda clan at Honnō-ji.

Biography

In 1582, Usami Yoshiko fell in love with a samurai and told him about a secret passage that sneaked in lovers and other visitors. However, the samurai secretly worked for Akechi Mitsuhide, who used this passage to attack Lord Oda Nobunaga at Honnō-ji and then abandoned Yoshiko.[1]

After the incident at Honnō-ji, Hori Hidemasa, retainer to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, met with Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke and asked for his help to track down these traitors. Along with fellow Kakushiba ikki member Fujibayashi Naoe, Yasuke followed Hidemasa's lead and found her location in a house besides Katano Castle. There, they confronted Yoshiko, who explained what she had done and how she felt uneasy since the incident. Seeing her remorse, they agreed to spare her and let her leave Katano.[1]
