The Tormentor (died 1582) was a Japanese criminal and member of the Seta River Killers hired by the Japanese Rite of the Templar Order during the late Sengoku period.
Biography
In 1582, the Tormentor was part of a group of hired killers who were tasked to eliminate influential people within the communities of Izumi Settsu, Yamashiro, and Ōmi. The Tormentor's overseer called "The Exterminator" assigned him to kill a kimono vendor and to bring proof of her death. However, the Kakushiba ikki members Yasuke and Fujibayashi Naoe were informed of the killers' plans after aiding the Templars' former colleague Rufino, a Portuguese translator, in stopping their kill contracts.[1]
Naoe and Yasuke quickly located the Tormentor south of Takatsuki by a river. There, they caught sight of him about to kill the vendor after already eliminating her companion and confronted him. Ultimately, Naoe and Yasuke defeated and killed the Tormentor, then searched his personal effects and recovered his kill assignment document.[1]
