Shucho (died 1582) was a Japanese criminal and a member of a child-abduction ring located in Osaka.

Biography

A child kidnapper, Shucho, alongside Richo and Mucho, were instructed by their leader Kacho to steal children from wealthy businesspeople in order to gain control of their trade. Shucho was tasked to kidnap a child and bring them to their hideout; however, the child escaped from her grasp and hid away from her.[1]

In 1582, the kunoichi Fujibayashi Naoe found a note during a game of collecting paper butterflies tasked by a local woman. The note detailed Shucho's failure to kidnap the child, who had gone missing in the Fishermen's District, and Naoe traveled there to search for them. At the district, Naoe found the child and told her to run while she assassinated Shucho. Naoe then obtained a tantō, the Ink Spiller, from Shucho's personal effects.[1]
